- I'm an 18-year old birder, with an interest other aspects of nature, such as orchids, butterflies and moths. My BOU British list is 332 and some of the best species on it include Eastern Crowned Warbler, Trumpeter Finch, Audouins Gull, White Crowned Sparrow, Greater Sandplover and American Robin. My local patch is Holme where my best birds have been Snow Goose, Ross' Goose (2), American Wigeon, Surf Scoter, Black-eared Kite, Pallid Harrier, White-tailed Eagle, Lesser Yellowlegs, Caspian Tern, Alpine Swift, Black-throated Thrush, Arctic Warbler, Red-flanked Bluetail, Greenish Warbler, Sardinian Warbler and Collared Flycatcher. I always enjoy finding my own birds and some of my best finds have PALLID HARRIER (ID), BEE-EATER, Icterine Warbler, Red-backed Shrike, Honey Buzzard, Sabine's Gull, Long-tailed Skua, Temminck's Stint,Siberian Chiffchaff, Wryneck, Barred Warbler, Pallas' Warbler and Grey-headed Wagtail. My favourite bird is Little Auk, with Firecrest a close second. As well as local patch-working and the odd twitch, I very much enjoy survey work.
